welcome back

goodness it's been a long time between posts. i wish i could say i've been busy drinking mojitos on a beautiful beach in spain, but sadly it's just the usual work-life-play that has contributed to this blogging hiatus.

this does mean however that i've got a few things to share over the next couple of weeks so keep checking back.

the first is just a wee invitation i designed for my best friend's upcoming baby shower...

 

next up on my to-do list are favours for all the guests. i'm thinking the balloon motif would look super sweet wrapped around a bag of jelly babies :)

race day has been and gone. aside from a few hiccups we had an awesome day in the hawkes bay sunshine {hard to believe now with all the roads closed by snow!}

i did end up finishing my ruffle headband but was too shy to wear it... i'm really pleased with it though, so pretty!

so instead saturday morning i woke up early and channeled my inner martha and made a fabric flower and pinned it into my hair

 

photobooth is always so helpful to see what the back of my hair looks like!

 

i used a chiffon style fabric that was frustratingly difficult to cut a template from but the beauty of these flowers is that accuracy is not vital, nor is a huge amount of time. i love mini projects!

race day headband: part I

it's race day here in the beautiful hawkes bay on saturday. this is the second year we've gone along and this year i decided {through a combination of disorganisation & low funds} that i wasn't going to buy a new dress/heels/earrings/necklace. i was instead going to wear a dress i already owned... {cue scary music!}

i will at this point add the disclaimer that if past form is anything to go by, come saturday morning i will be in an utter panic and be wishing against all hope that karen walker is going to drop by with a gorgeous spring dress...

anyways. so the dress i'm wearing is grey and very pretty but grey all the same. it needs a splash of colour. so monday night i decided to get a little crafty. totally inspired by rachel from heart of light & 100 layer cake i've  started making my very own ruffly headband.

will hopefully have some finished pics to share tonight...

crazy daisies

something crazy musta happened in my dreams last night because i woke up with the strongest urge to colour. with markers, or nz we call them felts. i.e. felt tip colouring pens. brings back all the favourite childhood memories... when your felts were new and the tips still nice, before your younger brother got hold of them and mushed them down and left the lids off so they dried out and then you had to add a little vinegar to them so yea, they'd colour a little longer but they would always smell weird...

tonight, intead of watching tv, i started mucking around in photoshop and this desktop wallpaper emerged. a little random + a splash of watercolour + perhaps a smidge of magic...
